Allergen-free Diet – Help You Find Problem Foods

Sometimes after you eat a big meal, you feel nauseous, sick the next day, or you don’t need to wait until the next day before you have an allergic reaction. Sometimes an elimination diet, an allergen-removing diet, is needed to identify what went wrong.

What is an allergen-free diet?

An allergen-free diet can help you identify problem foods in the first place. Once you are on an allergen-free diet, you may need the assistance of your physician to confirm that you are not missing any essential nutrients. Please keep in mind that if you have anaphylaxis or severe allergic reaction, the allergen-free diet is not recommended, because it may cause some extreme reactions. Please consult your doctor about the allergen-free diet, and try to find out the food that triggers the allergy as soon as possible.

How to go on an allergen-free diet?

First of all, suspicious foods should be removed from the daily diet. Suspicious foods refer to foods that may cause allergies. The average person is usually allergic to milk, eggs, nuts, wheat or soy. Stop eating foods that you think may trigger your symptoms. Make it a habit to read food labels to see what the contents are. If eating out, ask the chef how the food is prepared. It is best to have a list with you, you can write down all the food you eat in your stomach at any time, so that you can track your diet.

Allergen-free diets take time to get results. After a period of time, you can eat the suspicious food again, but do it slowly, it will help to notice which food triggers the symptoms, and record the relevant symptoms in a notepad. Next, one at a time, eliminate the problematic food, remember to keep an eye on the notepad to see if the symptoms subside.

You may still have reactions to certain foods because you have a sensitivity to them, not an allergy to them. An allergen-free diet may help you manage this condition. What’s more, now you know which foods to avoid.

The overall course of treatment is about 2 to 4 weeks, after which you will understand your body better and be able to adjust your diet. For safer and better results, it is recommended to follow a physician-supervised, allergen-free diet.
