Description

Betaine HCL is a naturally sourced ingredient added to skin and hair care products to increase moisture, protect the skin’s natural barrier, improve hair strength and silkiness, and enhance the texture of formulas.

Betaine HCl is a natural substance originally derived from sugar beets. Betaine is also found in high concentrations in several other sources, including wheat bran, wheat germ, spinach, sugar beets, microorganisms, and aquatic invertebrates. The chemical structure of betaine is similar to the amino acid glycine with three additional methyl groups. Betaine is also called trimethylglycine based on its structure.

Betaine is involved in several basic biological functions in the body. Betaine is primarily obtained through your diet during these processes. However, betaine can also be synthesized by combining choline with the amino acid glycine in the body. The biological processes that betaine is involved in include healthy liver function, detoxification, and normal cellular function throughout the body. Betaine is essential for the processing of body fat and acts as an osmoprotectant in the liver, kidneys and brain, protecting cells, proteins and enzymes from osmotic stress.

The benefits of betaine in skin care products include moisturizing, anti-inflammatory, anti-aging and skin soothing. Given that betaine occurs naturally in the body, it is a non-irritating, safe ingredient that can help improve skin conditions.

Digestion in the stomach is mainly for the preliminary decomposition of protein, and pepsin has the function of decomposing protein, but the pepsin secreted from chief cells exists as an inactive zymogen, which must be activated by gastric acid and provide an environment for action. Therefore, hydrochloric acid activates the stomach. Protein zymogen, providing an acidic environment for the action of pepsin, is its digestive function
